Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Grove ("Grove", "we", "us") collects when you use our mobile app, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to keep this short and readable.
1. What we collect
Account information
When you sign up, we collect your email address and a password (stored as a one-way hash). If you sign in with a third-party provider, we receive a unique identifier and your email from that provider.
Content you create
Goals, notes, journal entries, reports, and chat messages you create inside Grove are stored on our servers so they sync across your devices. We do not sell or share this content.
AI conversations
When you use AI coaching features, the prompts you send and the responses you receive are processed by our AI provider (Google Gemini) on our behalf. We do not use your conversations to train AI models.
Subscription and purchase data
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We receive purchase confirmations and entitlement status from RevenueCat (our subscription provider) so we know whether your account is on a paid plan. We do not see or store your credit card details.
Diagnostic data
We collect basic, anonymized diagnostic information (e.g. crash logs, error reports, app version) to keep Grove stable. This is not linked to your identity.
2. What we do not collect
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
- We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, or health data.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the core features of the app (AI coaching, goal tracking, reports).
- To sync your data across your devices.
- To authenticate you and protect your account.
- To process subscriptions through Apple and RevenueCat.
- To improve reliability and fix bugs through diagnostic data.
- To respond to your support requests.
4. Service providers we rely on
We use a small set of trusted vendors to operate Grove. They process data on our behalf under contractual privacy obligations.
- Supabase — authentication and database.
- Apple App Store — payment processing for subscriptions.
- RevenueCat — subscription state and entitlement management.
- Google Gemini — AI coaching responses.
5. Your rights
You can access, export, or delete your data from inside the app's Settings screen, or by emailing us. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days except where retention is required by law (e.g. tax records of paid subscriptions).
6. Children
Grove is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Data security
We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. No system is perfect, so we encourage strong, unique passwords and enabling device-level security.
8. International users
If you use Grove from outside the country where our servers are located, you understand that your information may be processed in other countries with different data protection rules.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Grove after a change means you accept the updated policy.
